Friday Fill-In #174

Supermerino!

I’m feeling fickle.  See, I still wasn’t sure about that BSJ I started.  I had originally planned to use some pretty blue Artyarns Supermerino from my stash and when I didn’t have enough I bought 2 more hanks from someone destashing on Ravelry.  If you remember, I’m allowed to buy it if I need it for a project & someone is destashing it, so we’re still good here with working from stash.  But before I received the 2 extra hanks I started to wind my first hank to get started and I decided it wasn’t looking stripey enough for the BSJ I was envisioning.  So I got started with the Needful Yarns Darling instead.  But lets be real here.  It was starting to look like something a cat barfed up and R. Darling was keeping suspiciously mum about it, so when I received my destash supermerino and saw it was a completely (much lighter) dye lot than what I had in my stash, I saw striping potential and decided to cut my losses.  Who knows what the cat barf yarn will turn out to be, probably some kind of cat barf sweater, but for now my baby boy is getting a beautiful blue BSJ.

And just in time for the weekend……

1. I was always unsure about kids and marriage.  Now I think I know how I feel :)
2. I don’ t have much time to read anymore and I left my book on the coffee table just in case I could sneak a few pages in between chores.
3. Why did I wake up disoriented the other night, sure that I had forgotten the baby in his bassinet in the living room?
4. The giant list of things I need to do and don’t have much time for was in my thoughts today.
5. One of my father’s favorite sayings was “Don’t take any wooden nickels!”
6. Worn out — I know that feeling!
7. And as for the weekend, tonight I’m looking forward to knitting a few rows on my BSJ, tomorrow my plans include spending some extra time with R. Darling (he’s been working too much lately) and Sunday, I want to maybe do a few things in my garden!

I’m not very entertaining these days, but there you have it!

BTW:  Why do I always miss out on all the fun stuff?  Did you know it was Knitting & Crochet Blog Week???  Such a great idea.  Well, it’s too late for me this year, but maybe next year I’ll try to participate.  Hope those of you that did had fun with it and have a wonderful weekend everyone!

************

BTW:  The hat Knittymunchkin is wearing was so thoughtfully knit for me by my good bloggy friend Amy.  Her original blog post about it is here on her old bloggy.  She has since moved to Mrs. Darsie’s Menagerie and you should totally check her out :)  We love this little hat and Knittymunchkin wears it when we take him out and about in our cold northwest Washington spring weather.  Thanks so much Amy!  We’re honored by your lovely gifty :)

I’ve received some other beautiful hand knits for Knittymunchkin from some of my other bloggy friends as well and I hope to have photos and thanks for those friends coming up soon here on the blog.  Thanks so much everyone!  We’re so touched by your kindness and generosity!

Have a wonderful weekend!

My last shipment of Sock Club yarn from Hazel Knits

~Sigh~ Isn’t it lovely?  Let me tell you, it’s breaking my heart to not be able to join the Hazel Knits Sock Club for the next round.  I had a whole year or so of yummy yarny goodness and now I have to call it quits.  That no workin’ thing kinda cramps the yarn buyin’ style if you know what I mean.  Realistically though, I have enough sock yarn to knit at least 40 pairs of socks already.  And that’s a way conservative estimate.  So I need to just go ahead and use it up, otherwise it’s just hanging out taking up space.  I’m really going to miss Wendee’s sock club though.  I haven’t exactly been around the block when it comes to sock clubs, but Wendee’s was truly perfect.  Each shipment came beautifully packaged, with a lovely little pamphlet through which Wendee would share a recipe, some thoughts on her inspiration for the month’s colors, and other little tidbits to give you a peek into her creative and exciting world.  Usually there’s some cool indie swag too and then, well, that drool-worthy yarn.  On top of that, Wendee is the sweetest person you could ever hope to meet (and we still haven’t met yet)!  Maybe someday in the future I can join up again, but for now I’m going to have to say goodbye.  Sniff, sniff…..

1. The lesson I learned yesterday was waiting to put your honeymoon photos (from 5 years ago) into a photo album can really put a damper on deciphering where exactly your photos were taken & just what the heck you were doing at the time.

Friday Fill-In #128

bubble tea

A couple weekends ago Miami and I took a day trip to Seattle.  We had “noods” (Miami’s name for noodles) at Uwajimaya’s, poked around the Kinokuniya Bookstore for a long time, and goggled at all the asian produce.  I also tasted my very first bubble tea as evidenced by the photo above.  Can you tell that I just threw up a little?  Sorry all you bubble tea lovers out there, but I have to say, this is just about the grossest thing I’ve tasted in a long time.  Those “pearls” are just so wrong on so many levels.  Imagine not-so-delicious gummy bears that taste like absolutely nothing, but yet somehow find a way to be vile flavored, being sucked up into your unsuspecting mouth while you are casually sipping a tasty pineapple slushy.  Quite the nasty surprise.  But now I finally know what all the fuss is about.

It’s been quiet here at the bloggy because I’ve been doing 2-a-days with the workout program.  I run a couple miles on the treadmill in the morning and then ride my bike with R. Darling while he runs in the evenings.  It’s not every day, but it does take a lot out of me and I never seem to have enough time during the day to do everything that I usually do.  So, the blog languishes.  But this weekend R. Darling is taking me on a secrety squirrel surprise getaway so I will hopefully have some fun things to share when we get back.  I know there is a massage and creatures involved (but not at the same time, cause that’s not how we roll).  I’m SO looking forward to this.  I sorely need a vacation but we just won’t be able to go on one until much later this year.  This will be a nice substitute.  Thanks honey!

And since I’ll be gone, I’ll leave this for you before I head out of town tomorrow:
