13 Things about Me

  1.  I have 3 piercings: 1 in each ear and one in my bellybutton.
  2.  I don’t have any tattoos but I sometimes consider getting one.
  3. I love vintage pin-ups and pin-up art.  In fact, I’ve had my pin-up portrait painted 2 times (here & here) by a fabulous female pin-up artist named Jessica Dougherty.
  4. I am a US citizen, but I was born in a foreign country.
  5. I have a master’s in microbiology, but I am not making good use of it.
  6. I learned how to knit in February 2006, and now I realize I’ll be obsessed for life.
  7. I have always wanted to be famous, if only for just my 15 minutes.  Too bad I’m not good enough (or bad enough) at anything to make that happen.
  8. I was never a coffee drinker until I met my husband in 2001. Now I can’t start my day without it!
  9. I’m a kid at heart; my husband catches me watching cartoons all the time (at least when I actually get to touch the remote).  My favorite is a little yellow sponge.
  10. I’m a perfectionist, which is really tough when you’re really not perfect at anything.
  11. I’m adopted and have no desire to meet my birth parents.  But I would like to know more about them and where I come from.
  12. I didn’t know how I felt about having kids until I had my son in 2010.
  13. My husband and I went to first grade and high school together and didn’t fall in love until our 10 year highschool reunion.

  1. Its funny you should mention you’re a perfectionist but not perfect at anything. I’ve always felt the same about myself for as long as I can remember. To be honest, I bet there’s quite a few things we do perfectly, but we we’re too hard on ourelves to see it. Just a thought. :)

  2. Knitting is an addiction that is good for you, which is not true of other types of addictions (except crochet – that’s another good addiction). And I’m not ashamed to admit that I lurk around the cartoon dvd’s in our library and take some home to watch after work … =D

  3. I’m not a cartoon lover but I also am not perfect at anything (although I love things to BE perfect), love knitting, and have barely ever used my college degree. I also tend to live in a world of “shoulds” which has gotten me into a lot of trouble from time to time. I am trying to learn to just be me. (My child, however, has turned out just about perfectly despite refusing to comply with almost any agenda I set out for her “own good”. I must have done something right but obviously not on purpose.)

    • Thank you so very much for this heartfelt comment Chloe! It is so good to know that I’m not alone :) And great job Mama, creating such a perfect little person! I’m so thrilled for you!
